Staying fit doesn't mean you have to be an exercise fanatic. In fact, just the simple act of mindful breathing gets you pointed in the right direction. As we age, it's even more important to find just the right form of movement that helps our body and doesn't injure it!
For me, my journey towards fitness was intensified even more with the birth of my grandson. I wanted to be alive and vibrant as long as I could so that I could see him grow up. I have a passion for gardening (as anyone who stops by Essence House can tell!). That keeps me moving. I have practiced yoga for longer than I can remember, and that gives me the ability to keep moving gracefully. When I combine yoga in my garden, it's magical!!!!
I've recently discovered how amazing Qigong can be. I call yoga, breath work, and qigong the Trifecta of Happiness. I love sharing what I've learned with others as a way of giving back what my teachers have instilled in me over the years.
Over the years I offered my advice and services to:
Red Hat meetings, the JCC senior group, Cedar Crest College's Life Long Learning in Retirement courses, and women's retreats in Woodstock, Costa Rica, and Cuba. I'd love to work with your group or help you plan an event that includes staying fit and healthy!
If you know a local business that is looking to host an event that includes yoga, qigong, or talks on healthy lifestyles, please think of me as your go-to person.

I have found that yoga and Qi-gong blend beautifully together! If you are someone who isn't able to get down on the floor easily and want to practice a slow and mindful way of moving, then this practice might be for you!
During this one hour session, basic Qigong movements are incorporated and blended into gentle yoga movements. Qigong (pronounced chee-gong) is an ancient Chinese exercise and healing technique that involves meditation, controlled breathing and movement exercises. There is a emphasis on the seasons of the year and how our bodies need to adapt and move to obtain optimum benefits. You will discover how our energy and the energy of everything that surrounds us is interconnected. This practice can be done sitting or standing and no prior experience is needed to participate.
I am honored to be able to teach for the Allentown JCC.
WEDNESDAY MORNING QIGONG
Wednesday mornings from 9:00 am to 9:45 am. This is a combination of gentle chair yoga and Qi-gong basic flowing movements. Classes are live at the Jewish Community Center located at 702 N. 22nd St., Allentown, PA. If you are a Silver Sneakers card holder, you can drop into this class without being a member of the JCC!
Friday mornings from 11:00 to 11:45 am. If you enjoy the theraputic effects of exercising in a heated pool, then this yoga/qi-gong class is for you! Enjoy the beautiful indoor pool at the JCC. The class is conducted in the shallow end of the pool and will focus on standing yoga poses combined with easy to follow Qi-gong movements. Working out in water is gentler on the body's joints and makes it easier to maintain your balance.
